Camera in hand, specific ideas in mind, I head out to make some pictures. Looking for a “brilliant, award winning” shot, I head to the Downtown Denton Square thinking I will have different types of subjects to pick from there. I’m thinking maybe some street shots, architectural or even landscape type photos. As I’m taking some shots around the Downtown Denton Square, I near the amazing Courthouse and look to see how I could possibly make this a unique shot and not just another plain courthouse photo. While seeking shade under one of the pecan trees, pieces of pecan husks start falling on my head from up above. Looking up, I see a squirrel helping himself to the green husked nuts, feasting like there is no tomorrow. This little squirrel is perched on a limb that is getting soft morning light, so I turn my camera upward and get a few shots before he moves on into a shadier spot. I wasn’t planning on getting wildlife photos but he presented me with a nice shot. Sometimes, what you set out to take isn’t the photo that captures your interest and sparks an idea for the next project. This first post was a quick turn around, so I’m not sure which direction I’ll go in. Now, let’s see what I can come up with for this semester.
